Antique Electric Clock

Longcase Clock by Tom Robinson,

Longcase Clock by Tom Robinson,
First published in 1981, The Longcase Clock has established itself as the standard work of reference on the subject. This revised edition contains a completely new chapter on recent discoveries and even more colour illustrations. The longcase or 'grandfather' clock is arguably the most interesting and at the same time most useful antique available to the collector and this is the most detailed and copiously written book on the subject. What is so special about the longcase clock? Firstly, the longcase is almost unique in blending fine examples of cabinet work and clock mechanism in one piece. Secondly, the range of cabinet work and the evolution of clockwork over the 150 years covered by this book is immense, so there is a wide choice open to the collector, who will find that if he chooses with care he has an antique which contributes to the atmosphere of a room by much more than the space it occupies. Thirdly, the claim for the longcase clock as the king of antiques can be advanced on the grounds that, as well as being beautiful, it is highly practical, for most examples can be persuaded to keep time accurately enough for domestic needs. Finally, the longcase clock has, more than most antiques, a particularly regional quality and again the author's lucid approach helps the reader to identify these variations.

The Standard Antique Clock Value Guide by Alex Wescot,
The Standard Antique Clock Value Guide by Alex Wescot,
Yesterday's timepieces are presented with today's market value. All the original black and white images have been preserved and improved, and there are hundreds of clocks to see - wall and mantel clocks, hall clocks, regulators, novelty, lever, spring, and weight clocks. The type of clock, the pattern name, the approximate date, and the size of the dial or height of the clock are listed. Eleven producers of clocks are represented: Seth Thomas, Ithaca, Ingraham, Waterbury, Welch, Howard, Gilbert, New Haven, Sempire, Sessions, and Ansonia.

Alexander Bain (inventor) - Alexander Bain (October 1811 – January 2, 1877), was a clockmaker who invented an electric clock, the electric printing telegraph and the first fax machine.

Electric inductance - Electric inductance (inductive electric reactance) is the electric reactance to electric current in the change regimes, which is attributed by the electric self-inductivity of the element of an electric circuit and for harmonic conventionally-stationary regimes is equal to the product of this electric inductivity and the angle frequency.

Electric capacitivity - Electric capacitivity is the scalar value for element of a dielectric circuit, in this same number as the part of an electric circuit, which is numerically equal to dielectric conductivity for the electric induction flux or to relation between this electric induction flux (or the equivalent external electric charge) and the difference of the electric potentials on this element.

Slave clock - In telecommunication, a slave clock is a clock that is coordinated with a master clock. Slave clock coordination is usually achieved by phase-locking the slave clock signal to a signal received from the master clock.
